I am a big fan of Nik Software’s collection of apps for the Mac or PC for use in Photoshop, Lightroom or my choice Aperture. Special price now at Amazon (See all Photo Editing Software) .  Nik Software has now created similar features in a new app for the iPad and iPad 2 called Snapseed for iPad.

With Snapseed, enhance your photos with one tap. Tweak photos to perfection with Tune Image or selectively adjust only a part of your photo with revolutionary Control Points. Add incredible effects with innovative filters like Drama, Vintage, and Grunge. Share photos with your friends and family with social network support, email, or print your photos directly in Snapseed.

Some of the effects include:  Grunge, Selective Adjust, Drama, and Vintage Films.
Other features include: Center Focus, Black & White, Organic Frames, and an easy to use Auto Correct.
And Tools such as: Tune Image, Rotate/Straighten, and Crop.

I encourage you to check out Snapseed for iPad as it may be the coolest and most intelligent photo editing app for the iPad.

Panasonic TS3 - Best “Mobile” Waterproof Camera

Until the mobile phone industry starts putting out waterproof devices, I am anticipating receiving this camera for my needs at the beach, pool, kayaking, snorkeling and an upcoming cruise.  I’ve done extensive research and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 (12.1 MP Rugged/Waterproof Digital Camera with 4.6x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD) is highly rated with its best competition coming from the Sony TX10.  But for my purposes of underwater photo taking the Panny is rated better for that specific task.  Read the Amazon reviews and see this camera is a winner

FaceTime, Camera and PhotoBooth Icons Confirm Camera in iPad 2

ipad 2 facetime camera photobooth

FaceTime will allow iPad 2 owners to video conference with iPhone, iPod Touch and Mac owners. The standard Camera app will allow you to take photographs. We still can’t say for sure if there will be a back camera, as the camera app could possibly be used only for the front camera. Finally, the Photo Booth icon confirms that Apple is including their Mac OS X Photo Booth app which allows users to take fun photos and apply various filters to them. Filters also found in the beta include Thermal Camera, Mirror, X-Ray, Kaleidoscope, Light Tunnel, Squeeze, Twirl and Stretch.

Amazon’s Gold box deal of the day is the Panasonic TA-1 Pocket HD Camcorder

Amazon’s Gold box deal of the day is the Panasonic TA-1 Pocket HD Camcorder - at a great price of $69.99.  I haven’t tested this myself but reading the reviews I get a general sense that the picture quality is pretty good (supports full HD), despite some other missing features.  At this 59% discounted price it’s about what I’d expect.

Panasonic TA-1 HD Camcorder Panasonic TA-1

Perhaps a nice gift, or a go-anywhere backup to your bigger more expensive video camera?

The most recent film shot entirely on the iPhone and iPod Touch 4. Great cinematography for a mobile phone. Watch the series.
